Blue Opal, necklace

265.00

I bought a group of these blue Oregon opals so I could have this specific one. The lines crossing the stone and the shape of the cut are very appealing to me. The final design is different from my most known work. When I sit down to create I always attempt to highlight the stone but, never want to pull the focus away from it. This seemed right. A simple crown of abstract birds flying over a blue opal sky.

The piece is set in a hand built sterling silver bezel with an open back. The “crown” is hand cut to hug the stone setting and the “birds” are hand pierced.

Stone in setting measures ~1” x 5/8”

Chain length is currently 17”, stone hangs below.

The piece is finished with a lower surface oxidation while the chain fades to bright silver.
